IB

EPIC pathways were designed to integrate into the IB programme at Sunny Hills

About IB
The International Baccalaureate (IB) is an global programme that gives students a broad, liberal arts education. In order to receive the IB Full Diploma, candidates are required to study and test in six areas (English, foreign language, social studies, science, mathematics, and an elective), with three subjects at the standard level (SL) and three at the higher level (HL). In addition, students must complete an extended essay (EE), the Theory of Knowledge (TOK) course, and a Creativity, Action, and Service (CAS) portfolio.

EPIC and IB
For highest achieving students, it is possible to simultaneously graduate from Sunny Hills having completed both the EPIC program and the IB Full Diploma. The specific decision of whether or not to pursue the IB Full Diploma need not be made until the end of sophomore year.

Of particular note, the junior and senior level EPIC courses, Mechoptronics AB and BC, serve to prepare students for the IB Design Technology HL Exam, helping to complete one of the required six areas of study. In other words, Mech AB and BC fulfill requirements for both the EPIC program and the IB Full Diploma.
